This award seeks to recognize international achievements and demonstrated excellence related to global engagement.
Each year the college presents one Faculty Award for Global Impact. Each award includes a $2,000 unrestricted personal award, $1,000 to the appropriate department or administrative unit to support the recipient's program, and a recognition statue.
A nominee must be a member of the faculty who holds a full-time appointment with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has a paid appointment in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences for the academic year in which the award will be presented. Individuals on sabbatical leave, disability leave, or leave without pay are also eligible. Note that members of the faculty who are full-time administrators are not eligible for the award. An individual may receive this award only once. The unit head must verify the nominee's eligibility. If an issue arises concerning eligibility, the College Executive Committee will decide the issue.
Nominations are submitted to the secretary of the Executive Committee using the online form. The original and five copies of the supporting materials, single spaced, listed below should be submitted.
All supporting materials must be Times New Roman 12-point font with 1-inch margins and include the following:
Each nominee will be evaluated on exceptional and innovative leadership in international activities that go beyond individual program responsibilities. The award recipient will be an individual whose contributions to ACES-related disciplines have global impact. Nominees will be evaluated, and the award recipient will be selected by a five-person selection committee from the college faculty. The chair of the selection committee, in consultation with its members, shall develop guidelines for the committee's operation. The committee will consider each nominee's achievements and contributions to areas of teaching, research, and outreach related to global engagement.
The selection committee may decide against granting an award if no meritorious candidate has been nominated. The selection committee shall submit its recommendations for a recipient to the dean. The dean shall notify the recipient, the appropriate associate dean and unit head, and the secretary of the Executive Committee.
All copies of the supporting materials must be returned to the dean's office by the chair of the selection committee at the completion of the selection process.
